What Have Almost 40 Years in The Fitness Industry Taught Me?

During my career, I’ve been a high-level athlete. I’ve trained high-level athletes. I’ve helped people become high-level athletes. I work a lot with people who once were high-level athletes but are no longer due to age, injuries or lifestyle. Now, it’s about helping people regain energy, health and youthfulness that they thought couldn’t come back.

One thing I’ve learned is that as you get older, you can’t train or shouldn’t train like you did when you were young. We grew up believing more is better. Most people still do, even young professionals. However, it’s not true. Too much of anything isn’t good. Too much exercise will lead to “over-training.” Basically, this means that tearing the body down further than it can recover. This leads to inefficiency and eventually will cause injury or illness. It’s your body’s natural self-defense. I explain to my clients that exercise is like cooking. In other words, if you’re baking a cake, you need to put the mixture in the oven at a certain temperature for a certain amount of time – if it’s not hot enough, it doesn’t get done. Conversely, if it’s too hot or in the oven too long it burns, and it’s still no good. Same thing with exercising your body. If you don’t do enough – nothing happens and when you do too much, bad things happen – and you still don’t get the results.

At Bill Ross Fitness Solutions, this is our philosophy – treat each person individually to find what is right for them based on several factors, such as age, health, injuries, limitations, current conditions and desired outcome.

We will help you like yourself again. We do this through exercise, stretching and nutrition. So, if you’re looking for one-on-one personal help in a comfortable, non-intimidating environment, please call us at 602-230-8581. We still use the phone.
